36. Remove the large horizontal foam log. You may have to break it loose as it is usually partially glued in place. 37. Remove the large a/c vent tube. 38. Remove the "c" clip holding the small defroster tube against the bracing, remove the tube. 39. LHD: Using a long phillips screwdriver - via the hole in the top left corner of the glovebox - remove the screw which retains the passenger side windshield defrost tube. Slide the tube out from behind the dash - again be careful not to lose the speed nuts. 39. RHD: Using a long phillips screwdriver remove the screw which retains the driver side windshield defrost tube. Slide the tube out from behind the dash - again be careful not to lose the speed nuts. 40. RHD: (Air Temp stepper beside glovebox). Cut off the speed clip from the heater flap control cable, remove the cable from the arm. At the rear of the stepper gearbox press in the plastic tab and pull the gearbox and motor downward and remove. (Leave the metal bracket in place. Getting the bracket fixed back - 3 small bolts at the rear - can be fiddly). 40. LHD: (Dual stepper assembly). Remove the escutcheon just below the pair of stepper motors. Remove the 3 screws which retain the stepper motor assembly - dislodge the assembly. Rotate the assembly and cut off the speed clip from the heater flap control cable. Remove the cable from the arm - remove the assembly.
